Mountain View, Calif. – Jumio, the developer of a Web and
mobile payments service, has raised $6.5 million in its first round of funding,
led by Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.

The Mountain View, Calif.-based
company said it structured the round by creating a single-purpose corporation,
and solicited private placements with "Ultra High Net Worth Individuals
("Ultra HNWI").

Saverin, who currently resides in Singapore, said he
will be actively involved in Jumio’s launch in Asian markets.

"I’m usually
a critical person," said Saverin, "by the last time I have seen such
a disruptive idea was actually Facebook."
