San Francisco
– News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) has acquired Irata Labs, a San Francisco-based developer of social
games and applications, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Financial terms of the
deal were not disclosed.
Irata’s applications include the Twitter-based game
"Spymaster," which has since expanded to Facebook and the iPhone.
According to the Times, Irata will not be integrated into any specific News
Corp. unit, but instead will work with various divisions as needed.
Irata raised
$1.5 million in initial financing from backers including Draper Fisher
Jurvetson and Veoh founder Dmitry Shapiro
