– Openfilm, an online independent film community backed by James Caan, Robert
Duvall and Mark Rydell, announced on Thursday a competition that will award $1
million to filmmakers over the next 20 months. The site’s community of 20,000 indie
filmmakers will be able to compete for a range of prizes, including one winner
who will receive $50,000 in cash and $200,000 in financing every five months
from the Openfilm community. Openfilm offers free membership, as well as
premium tiers ranging from $2.95 to $9.95 per month.
