Apple to Launch iPad in Nine More Countries on May 28

Cupertino,
Calif. – Apple (NASD: AAPL) announced on
Friday that its iPad will launch in nine international markets on May 28, with
pre-orders to begin on Monday, May 10.

The iPad will initially be available in Australia, Canada,
France, Germany, Italy,
Japan, Spain, Switzerland
and the U.K. on May 28;
Apple also plans to release the iPad in Austria,
Belgium, Hong
Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico,
Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore in July.

The company
added that the iPad has already sold over 1 million units in the U.S., where
users have downloaded more than 12 million apps and 1.5 million e-books.
