San Francisco – In a bid to address chronic infrastructure
issues, Twitter has announced plans to build a new data center for its technical
infrastructure operations in the Salt Lake City, Utah area.
The company noted
that its user base has grown steadily this year, adding an average over 300,000
new accounts each day.
"Having dedicated data centers will give us more
capacity to accommodate this growth in users and activity on Twitter," as
well as provide "greater reliability," the company said.
Twitter said
the data center will also give it full control over its network and systems
configuration, and the flexibility to more quickly make adjustments as its
needs change.
