Los Angeles – Rapportive, a start-up developing ways to
improve Google’s Gmail by adding contextual information about contacts, has
raised over $1 million in seed financing, TechCrunch reports.
Angel backers
included Gmail creator Paul Buchheit, Scott Banister, Jason Calacanis, Gary Vaynerchuk, David
Cancel, Dharmesh Shah, Shervin Pishevar, and Roy Rodenstein.
Other investors
included 500Startups, VentureHacks, Charles River Ventures, Kima Ventures,
Zelkova Ventures and BOLDstart Ventures.
Founded in 2009, Rapportive has
developed a browser plug-in that displays information culled from the Web about
a user’s Gmail contacts in the sidebar — such as a profile photo, occupation
and links to profiles on various social networks.
