Alexandria, Va. – Job growth in the information technology
sector accelerated in July, according to new figures from the TechServe
Alliance, an industry association for IT services firms.
The organization said
the number of IT jobs grew by 9,700 in July to 3.88 million, and has now
increased by 63,000 — or 1.7% — since January.
"Despite a generally
anemic employment environment, IT employment continues to show strength,"
said Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance.
"With July’s growth, IT
employment has increased in each of the last seven months."
Roberts added
that while IT employment "would not be immune should the recovery derail,"
his organization remains "very bullish" on continued growth for the
foreseeable future.
