Los Angeles – Location-based mobile service Foursquare has
updated its privacy settings to give users more control over who sees personal
contact information, and "check-ins" or other statuses available on
the service, Mashable reports. Users can now hide email and phone contacts from
friends, as well as opt out of displaying mayorships or appearing on venues’
"Who’s Here" lists. Mashable notes that the changes come on the eve
of the purported launch of a Facebook location service.
