New York – CollegeOnly, a photo-centric social network only
for college students, has raised $1.15 million in a first round of funding.
Backers include PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel — also an early investor in
Facebook — as well as FirstMark Capital, Softbank, IAC/High Line Venture
Partners, David Kidder and David Tisch.
New York-based CollegeOnly says that
once members graduate, they will be "expelled" from the service,
which is meant to be shared only with peers.
The founders have also worked on
similar ventures targeting college students, including RandomDorm and
GoodCrush.
