Palo Alto, Calif. – A class action lawsuit has been filed
against Facebook over the misuse of minors’ names and likenesses in
advertisements on the site, TechCrunch reported.
If a minor "likes"
an advertisement on Facebook, that action may then broadcast to the minor’s friends
on the site as a "social endorsement" status update.
The lawsuit
cites a California law that requires advertisers to obtain parental consent
before using minors’ names or likenesses in advertisements.
