Los Angeles – Musopen, an online library of copyright-free,
public domain musical works, has so far raised over $41,000 on crowdsourced fundraising
platform Kickstarter for its plan to hire orchestras to record new performances
of classic works. The recordings would then be made available for anyone to use
for free, by filmmakers, websites and fans.
