Beijing – Apple’s (NASD: AAPL) iPhone 4 has sold out in China, four days
after going on sale in the country, All Things D reported, citing the local
People’s Daily.
Apple’s wireless network partner there, China Unicom, reported
that it has sold 100,000 iPhone 4s, including 40,000 on day one — and has
100,000 units on back order.
China Unicom has also temporarily suspended online
reservations for the device.
"The sales of previous versions of iPhones
created a solid foundation for the explosive performance of the iPhone 4 this
year," China Unicom senior vice president Li Gang told the People’s Daily.
The company is also currently waiting for approval from the Chinese government to
begin selling Apple’s iPad in the country.
