Sunnyvale, Calif. – Yahoo (NASD: YHOO) on Thursday unveiled a number of
new features on its U.S. search engine, including new multimedia content boxes
that appear on search page results for entertainment, sports and major events.

The "shortcuts for movies, musical artists, celebrities and news topics
conveniently organize the most important details such as images, articles,
videos, tweets, event listings, and ratings," the company said.

The boxes
will also feature links to purchase items like tickets to movies, concerts or
sporting events.

Yahoo’s new features for its own search engine come just
months after it signed a deal with Microsoft that will see that company’s Bing
search engine power the back-end of Yahoo Search.

Yahoo said it expects to
launch the new search features in additional global markets next year.
