Los Gatos, Calif. – Online DVD rental and streaming video
service Netflix (NASD: NFLX) could pay as much as $2 billion through 2011 for the rights to
stream movies and TV episodes from major studios and networks, All Things D
reported.

The company recently reported streaming rights payments of at least
$1.2 billion, which includes a new five-year deal with the nascent Epix pay-TV
channel.

Barclays analyst Douglas Anmuth estimates that, with the expected
signing of an extension to Netflix’s streaming deal with Starz, the company
will have pledged $2 billion for streaming content through the end of next
year.
