Mountain View, Calif. – Google (NASD: GOOG) plans to release another
mobile phone, which will run the new 2.3 version of its Android operating
system set for release in coming weeks, CNET News.com reported.

Published
reports indicate the "unannounced product" that CEO Eric Schmidt
briefly displayed to attendees of the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco is the
"Nexus S," a photo of which was leaked via retailer Best Buy’s
website last week.

Google’s previous foray into smartphone sales, the Nexus
One, was shelved following lackluster sales from Google’s website and a handful
of retail partners.

Schmidt said the new device will feature a near-field
communications chip, which can be used to turn a smartphone into a credit card.
