San Francisco – Social games firm Zynga announced on
Thursday that it has acquired Texas-based development studio Newtoy, the
creator of the popular Scrabble knock-off mobile game "Words With
Friends."
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2008,
Newtoy was founded by the creators of "Age of Empires" and "Halo
Wars."
The Newtoy headquarters in McKinney, Texas will become the Zynga
With Friends Studio.
