McLean, Va. – UberMedia, a developer of applications for
reading and posting to Twitter and other social media platforms, said it has
acquired Mixx, a social media site used to find and share Web content.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

UberMedia said it plans to add Virginia-based
Mixx’s content channels to its family of apps, including UberTwitter, Twidroyd
and Echofon.

Publishers such as CNN, The New York Times and USA Today feature
"Mixx" buttons on their sites, allowing readers to more easily share
content.

Mixx said the acquisition will lead to some changes.
"Over the next month, we will be retiring Mixx Classic and relaunching
with a new Mixx product soon thereafter," wrote Kerry Parkins, Mixx’s vice
president of products and marketing, in the company’s blog.

The company said
that while users will be able to save their current submissions and favorites,
a new ID system will require them to re-establish their connections.
