Durham, N.C. – Appia, the operator of an open app
marketplace, announced on Wednesday that it has secured a new $10 million
investment from Venrock.
North Carolina-based Appia powers application
storefronts for more than 40 partners — including Opera, Samsung, AT&T and
Verizon Wireless — and claims to reach over 200 million mobile subscribers
across 200 countries.
The company said it will use the new funds to accelerate
development of its open app marketplace, and to launch app stores for partners
around the world.
