Los Angeles – Fueled by a 99-cent full album download promotion by Amazon.com, first-week sales of Lady Gaga’s new album “Born This Way” are expected to top 1.15 million units, according to Billboard’s projections.
After technical glitches delayed downloads of the album from Amazon.com on Monday, the company offered the album for 99 cents again on Thursday.
Sources told Billboard that the album sold 333,000 units via Amazon on Monday, and another 110,000 on Thursday.
At retail, the album reportedly sold at least 500,000 units on Monday; it has been made available at a wide range of 20,000 stores, including CVS, Whole Foods and Walgreens.
