EA Sports today confirmed details of EA Sports Ticket, its previously promised program that provides gamers with a premium, more engaging experience for an annual fee of $25. The service goes live on Aug. 27.
The four main features the subscription offers are full-game downloads of new games three days before the games are available at retail outlets, a 20 percent discount on downloadable game content, additional content and related features, and a special identifying badge displayed both in-game and on the member’s EASports.com profile.
During those three re-release days, members also can play the downloaded games before deciding whether or not to purchase them.
Initially, GameStop will be the exclusive retail partner for EA Sports Season Ticket in North America, in which role it will support the product with a multichannel marketing campaign and integration with its own PowerUp Rewards program, which has more than 11 million enrolled customers.
Customers also can join via the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, which will accept 2000 Microsoft Points in lieu of the $25 fee, and through the PlayStation Store for PS3 users.
EA Sports Season ticket will launch with Madden NFL 12. Franchises scheduled to participate include Madden NFL Football, NHL hockey, FIFA Soccer, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR golf and NCAA Football.
Peter Moore, president, EA Sports, said the service would continue to expand and evolve.
“EA Sports Season Ticket is an exciting program for our core fans – it lets our biggest fans play earlier, play more and play better than anyone else,” Moore said. “EA Sports Season Ticket is an important step in our vision for transforming how deeply fans connect with the sports games they love through digital products and services.”
