ESPN Audio and Slacker Inc. went live with the first radio service to feature ESPN Radio in a personalized context. The interactive ESPN Radio station includes major sporting event coverage and news stories, in addition to content from ESPN programs and platforms including Mike and Mike in the Morning, SportsCenter, and The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
Access to ESPN content varies according to a listener’s tier of service. The free Slacker Basic Radio service now includes an interactive, programmed ESPN station with ads and a limited number of skips. Those who pay for ad-free Slacker Radio Plus and Slacker Premium Radio get unlimited access to create personalized myESPN Radio sports stations based on sports, teams or ESPN programs, and they can add hourly SportsCenter updates to any Slacker station.
Slacker Radio with ESPN is available on the web, home entertainment devices and Android smartphones. An updated Slacker app with ESPN for iOS is pending Apple approval.
“Offering new and different ways for sports fans to access ESPN Radio content continues to be rewarding and exciting,” said Traug Keller, senior vice president, Production Business Divisions, ESPN Inc. “This new relationship puts the fan more in control by providing customizable ESPN content.”
