Kid-safe social media site Everloop has gone live with EverText, a SMS feature that is always on and protected by moderators in real time. It works across all mobile carriers and does cost anything beside whatever the mobile data plan charges. The company said EverText is the first service of its kind.
Technology message filters, account management and live monitors block bad language, inappropriate conversations, and the sharing of too much personal information. Users also can report anything that’s inappropriate or that simply makes them feel uncomfortable. In addition, parents can set time limits to make sure kids don’t overdo it or rack up a massive phone bill. Everloop is compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in all other aspects, too.
Hilary DeCesare, co-founder and CEO of Everloop, said it was appropriate to launch EverText during National Cyber Security Awareness Month. “Everloop is proud to extend our secure social media platform to include the fastest growing category of technology, mobile devices,” she said.
Among other features, Everloop has partnerships with National Geographic’s Animal Jam and Mattel’s global brand Monster High that it announced last month. In perfect time for Halloween, the official Monster High Loop on Everloop includes archived and new webisodes, polls, branded stickers and goobs (icky stickers users can prank their friends with), and other exclusive content. For the uninitiated, the otherwise typical teens who attend Monster High (pictured) have classic monsters for parents and live by the motto, “Be Yourself. Be Unique. Be a Monster.”
Lori Pantel, vice president Marketing, Global Mattel Girls Brands, said, “We are excited that our partnership with Everloop will enable us to continue to deliver engaging content to Monster High enthusiasts who might be too young for some of our other existing social media platforms.”
National Geographic’s Animal Jam is an animal themed virtual playground that reports having more than two million users. The Animal Jam Loop on Everloop provides users with tips on the game, allow kids to talk about the game with other players, and gives away exclusive promotional codes.
Clark Stacey, Animal Jam’s executive vice president of Strategy & Business Development, said, “Animal Jam has always been committed to offering kids a fun and safe place to play online, and our partnership with Everloop takes that commitment another step further. With our fast-growing member base, it’s imperative that our players have a safe, social environment to engage with our world that is outside of the game. Everloop provides us just that.”
