– Last night’s NBA Championship game that saw the Los Angeles Lakers beat the
Boston Celtics broke an all-time traffic record on Twitter, generating 3,085
tweets-per-second (TPS) as the game ended, the company said. On an average day,
the company said it sees about 750 tweets-per-second.
The record set by the Lakers game unseats
several records set earlier this week, during World Cup matches.
The kick-off Mexico vs. South
Africa match on June 11 generated 2,704 TPS, while on
June 14, Brazil’s first goal
against North Korea saw
2,928 TPS and Japan’s lone
goal against Cameroon
generated 2,940 TPS.
