Las Vegas – Artist Jay
Park has been named as a finalist in the "Best Web Video" and "Must-Follow Personality" categories for the Mashable
Awards. Park is a Korean-American singer, dancer and actor. Born in Seattle,
Washington, Park is a member of the b-boy crew Art of Movement (AOM) and was
the charismatic leader of the South Korean K-Pop boyband "2PM" until his much
publicized separation with the group in the fall of 2009.
In March 2010, Park surprised fans by
posting a cover of B.o.B’s and Bruno Mars’ "Nothin’ on You". The YouTube video
went viral, garnering over 5 million views — 1.5 million in the first 24
hours. The cover’s popularity prompted Warner Music Korea to release Park’s version
of "Nothin’ on You" which immediately leapt to #1 on the Korean charts.
The winner of the Best Web Video award will
be announced on stage at the Mashable Awards Gala on January 6 in Las Vegas
during CES. The other finalists
for the Best Web Video category are: A Very Potter Sequel, GameZombie TV,
Bonamana and Eli Soriano. The other finalists for the "Must-Follow Personality" category are John Cena, Super Junior, Eli Soriano and Noah Antwiler.
Park is represented by DMW Advisors, Seth Friedman and Sidus HQ.
The awards gala starts at approximately 8:30pm PST and will be streamed live
online at http://www.mashable.com.
