London – Getty Images, a creator and distributor of
photography and other digital media, announced on Tuesday that it will acquire
Australia-based Photolibrary, a provider of creative stills imagery.
Financial
details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Photolibrary’s catalog includes
collections from Peter Arnold and Oxford Scientific, and the company has an
established presence in India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, where Getty
plans to expand.
"The need for both local and global content remains
strong across South East Asia, as the region continues to develop and grow.
This acquisition will further enhance our ability to better serve customers in
the region and around the world, with a greater choice of content," said
Getty Images co-founder and CEO Jonathan Klein.
