Sony Online Entertainment will be at E3 with PlanetSide 2, the first time the company has offered hands-on experience with the upcoming edition of the popular shooter. E3 runs June 5-7 in Los Angeles.
What’s attracting even more buzz, however, is SOEmote, SOE’s new facial recognition feature, which will be demonstrated by members of the EverQuest II team. Created by Image Metrics and integrating Vivox‘s voice font technology, SOEmote promises to blend a player’s avatar with his or her own facial expressions, head movements and customized voice using real-time tracking, adding a new level of immersion and personalization to the gameplay experience. (See demo video, below.)The company also will be unveiling two new free-to-play games: Bullet Run, a high-energy shooter developed by Acoiny Games; and Wizardry Online, a fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game produced by Gamepot.
Other SOE games on show include DC Universe Online, EverQuest II, Free Realms, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, and Vanguard Saga of Heroes.
“This year’s E3 line-up features an unparalleled variety of free-to-play titles spanning across multiple genres and platforms – from kids and adults, to casual and hardcore,” said John Smedley, president, Sony Online Entertainment
