Los Angeles – RealD, a
provider of 3D digital cinema projection systems, announced on Monday that it
has partnered with Korea’s
Samsung Electronics, and will integrate its 3D technology into Samsung’s line
of 3D televisions. The companies will also work jointly on "active eyewear
technology and New Passive Display technology." RealD’s systems have to
date been installed on over 4,800 movie theater screens worldwide, and are
currently being used to screen "Avatar" in 3D. "Avatar"
became the fourth highest-grossing movie of all time over the weekend, when it
reached a worldwide total of $1.02 billion.
