San Bruno,
Calif. –
Google’s (NASD: GOOG) YouTube has removed
the music video for Rick Astley’s "Never Gonna Give You Up" at the
request of a copyright holder — despite the video’s having been viewed tens of
millions of times in connection with the "Rickroll" phenomenon of
2008, CNET News.com reported. CNET noted that one of the song’s co-writers
lamented last year that he hadn’t made much money off the newfound popularity
of the video, and felt "exploited" by YouTube and Google.
