Los Gatos,
Calif.
– Online DVD rental
service Netflix (NASD: NFLX) is polling its subscribers on their interest in seeing a
Netflix application for Apple’s (NASD: AAPL) iPhone, the Hacking Netflix blog reports.

"Imagine
that Netflix offers its subscribers the ability to instantly watch movies &
TV episodes on their iPhone," reads the survey sent to Netflix
subscribers.

"The selection availability to instantly watch includes some
new releases, lots of classics and TV episodes. There are no advertisements or
trailers, and movies start in as little as 30 seconds. You can fast-forward,
rewind, and pause or watch again… for no additional fee."

No details on
pricing or features could be readily discerned from the survey.

Wired.com notes
that it appears that a Netflix iPhone application may not support streaming
over a 3G connection, or caching of videos on the device for offline playback.
