– Sony (NYSE: SNE) Computer Entertainment announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Media
Molecule, the developer of the PlayStation 3 and PSP title
"LittleBigPlanet."
Financial terms of the transaction were not
disclosed.
Surrey, England-based Media Molecule has won over 90 awards for
"LittleBigPlanet," its first title, and said that players have
created over 2 million user-generated levels for the game.
"The
acquisition will enhance the talent pool within SCE, protect past and current
investment and ensure a solid base for future investment. Media Molecule have
exciting projects in the pipeline and we’re looking forward to sharing these with
you in the not too distant future," Sony said in a blog post.
