Dallas – RadioTime, the provider of a guide to Web radio
stations and the streams of terrestrial stations, announced that it has
partnered with BMW on what they companies are calling the first implementation
of in-car Web radio. On BMW’s MINI, the MINI Connected option will use a
USB-connected iPhone to access RadioTime’s streaming channels, which may be changed
via buttons on the steering wheel, and viewed on the in-dash display.

  1. BMW, the first car manufacturer to offer this capability in a production car. It’s a bit of a kluge — steering-wheel-mounted controls send commands over a USB cable to an iPhone, which then changes the channel on RadioTime’s internet radio service.
