– Google (NASD: GOOG) has acquired
DocVerse, a provider of technology that lets users collaborate on Microsoft
Word documents online, for around $25 million, The Wall Street Journal
reported, citing a source.

Founded in 2007 by two Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) veterans, DocVerse
lets users upload Word documents to the Web and jointly edit them.

Google plans
to combine DocVerse with Google Apps, to created a bridge between the Microsoft
Office and Google Apps platforms.
