Chicago – Groupon, the
provider of a network of daily deal newsletters, announced on Wednesday that it
has acquired mobile application developer Mob.ly, and opened a new office in Silicon Valley.

Financial terms of the acquisition were
not disclosed.

Launched in 2008, Mob.ly has built mobile applications for
clients including Yahoo and OpenTable.

Groupon said it plans to offer its
service in 100 cities in the U.S.,
Canada and Europe
by the end of 2010.
