San Francisco
– Payvment, the developer of an e-commerce platform for Facebook, said on
Wednesday that it has raised $1.5 million in its first round of funding, led by
BlueRun Ventures.
Angel investor Dave McClure also participated.
San
Francisco-based Payvment provides a free Facebook application that allows
sellers to set up virtual storefronts.
Buyers then use the company’s virtual
shopping cart tool to make purchases without leaving Facebook.com.
"Because buying on Facebook is relatively new, sellers just haven’t had
the tools they’ve needed to make the most of the Facebook network effect,"
said Christian Taylor, the CEO of Payvment.
The company said that more than
500,000 users have used the serve since its launch in November.
