San Francisco
– Google (NASD: GOOG) is now activating more than 100,000 Android-based smartphones daily,
up from 60,000 in February and 30,000 a year ago, Google vice president Vic Gundotra
revealed at the company’s I/O developer conference on Thursday, TechCrunch
reported. There are now more than 60 Android devices on the market, and 50,000
apps available from the Android Market. Gundotra said Android-based phone sales
beat Apple’s iPhone this quarter, and were second only to Research in Motion’s
BlackBerry.
