London – Yell Group, an
international publisher of directories, announced on Thursday that it has
acquired TrustedPlaces, a U.K.
website that lets users post reviews of local businesses.

Financial terms of
the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2006, TrustedPlaces now counts 700,000
unique monthly users.

Yell said the deal will combine its database of over 2
million businesses with TrustedPlaces’ recommendations from local consumers.

The
company expects to integrate TrustedPlaces’ techniques and technologies into
its units in the U.S., Spain and Latin America.
