San Bruno, Calif. – Google’s (NASD: GOOG) YouTube, which already counts
music videos as its most popular content category, this week introduced a new
YouTube Music landing page, which will showcase the most-viewed videos, promotions,
curated playlists and other features.

The page will also showcase unsigned
talent, allow users to create on-the-fly mixes, and learn about local concerts
in a soon-to-launch "Events Near You" feature.

A "Today’s
Hits" section will display the top viral videos of the day.

In addition to
its main site, YouTube also hosts and shares ad revenues with Vevo, the music
video portal joint venture between Sony Music, Universal Music Group and Abu
Dhabi media Company.
