Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Malaysian online payments firm MOL
Global, which acquired Friendster last year, plans to turn the online social
network into a social gaming portal, CEO Ganesh Bangah told the Philippine
Star.

The portal is expected to feature "hundreds" of online games
when it launches next year, and will utilize MOL Global’s virtual currency
platform, a spokesman told PaidContent.

MOL Global also recently sold its
patent portfolio to Facebook and signed a Facebook Credits gift card
distribution deal with the company, PaidContent noted, signaling it likely will
no longer be in direct competition as a social network.
