Seattle – RealNetworks (NASD: RNWK) announced on Tuesday that it has
acquired Canadian social games developer Backstage Technologies.

Financial
terms of the transaction were not disclosed, although Real said the cash
purchase price "was not material."

Victoria, B.C.-based Backstage co-developed
a social version of the TV game show "Family Feud," as well as titles
such as "Vinyl City" and "Scratch and Win" for Facebook.

The
studio will become part of Real’s GameHouse digital games division, home to
social titles including "UNO" and "Scrabble."
