San Francisco – IGN Entertainment, a video game-focused unit
of News Corp. (NYSE: NWS), on Wednesday announced the launch of an initiative that will
help independent game developers incubate their projects from within the
company’s own offices in San Francisco.

The Indie Open House project will offer
teams a free residency, exclusive demo days, free licenses to online game
technology, professional consultation, technical support and other services.

IGN stated that it has no interest in owning any content or binding
participants to prohibitive contracts.

"Just because you’re an independent
team doesn’t mean you have to work alone," said IGN president Roy Bahat.
"Indie Open House is an incubator program with no strings attached."

Teams will be offered six-month rolling terms, and will be guided by
"several internal and external advisors, including company executives,
editors and independent developers."

IGN’s video game and
entertainment-related sites draw around 37.8 million unique monthly visitors.
