Cupertino, Calif. – Apple (NASD: AAPL) has acquired Sweden-based facial
recognition software developer Polar Rose, according to a report from Norwegian
Mac site Mac1.

Neither company would comment for 9 to 5 Mac on the report,
which did not include financial details of the transaction.

Apple already
offers facial recognition technology within its iPhoto application.

Polar
Rose’s products include FaceCloud, which provides facial recognition for
Web-based services, and FaceLiv, for mobile phones.
