Redmond, Wash. – Microsoft (NASD:  MSFT) on Tuesday announced plans to
expand its Zune digital entertainment service into Europe in the fall. The
company’s free Zune software, Zune Marketplace online content store, Zune Pass
music subscription service and Zune.net will be offered in 20 countries by
year’s end, including the U.K., France, Italy, Germany and Spain.

The Zune Pass
will cost 9.99 euros/8.99 pounds per month for unlimited download and streaming
access to the Zune music catalog, on Windows PCs, Xbox Live and Windows Phone
7-powered handsets.
