New York – Facebook is in talks with Internet telephone
service Skype on a partnership that would see a tight integration of the
service on the social network, All Things D reported, citing sources. The deal
would see Skype deploy Facebook Connect, allowing Facebook users to send SMS
messages and make voice and video calls to Facebook friends via Skype.

While
Facebook counts over 500 million users, Skype claims 124 million active users
and 560 million registered accounts.

The Skype integration is expected to come
with the release of Skype 5.0 in coming weeks.
