Minneapolis, Minn. – The third trial of convicted
file-swapper Jammie Thomas-Rassett — this case will challenge the
constitutionality of the damages award — wil begin in U.S. District Court in
Minneapolis, Minn. on Nov. 2. Thomas was convicted of sharing 24 songs and
ordered to pay $1.92 million in damages. A second trial saw the damages award
reduced to $1.8 million, and the current case will further challenge that award
as unconstitutionally excessive.
