New York – Signpost, a community-powered retail deals site
(formerly known as Postabon), announced on Wednesday that it has received an
investment from Google Ventures, the venture capital arm of Google (NASD: GOOG).

The amount of the investment was not
disclosed; Google Ventures joins Spark Capital as an investor in the company.

Signpost
also announced the expansion of its service beyond its home base of New York
City, into Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.

The company says it "leverages
the wisdom of city dwellers neighborhood by neighborhood to help find, share,
curate, and rate deals that matter to them."

"Signpost’s community
focus will enable new ways of discovering relevant deals from merchants and
other users alike. Helping consumers more effectively discover high quality
local deals remains a huge opportunity," said Wesley Chan, partner at Google
Ventures.
