Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. – Redbox, the operator of a network of
automated DVD rental kiosks, is expected to announce a partner for a planned
streaming video service today during an earnings call from parent company
Coinstar (NASD: CSTR).
Home Media Magazine cited Merriman Curhan Ford analyst Eric World,
who expects that Redbox will name either Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT) or Amazon (NASD: AMZN) as a streaming
video service partner.
Such a service would compete with offerings from Netflix,
and both Wal-Mart’s Vudu movie download service, and Amazon VOD.
