Washington – The website of the U.S. Copyright Office was
downed for about a half-hour yesterday in a denial-of-service attack credited
to Anonymous, a group that has been launching attacks against anti-piracy
groups worldwide, TorrentFreak reported. The "Operation Payback"
string of denial-of-service attacks began in September, and have targeted
dozens of anti-piracy groups, including the MPAA, RIAA, AiPlex Software and the
website of the U.K. Intellectual Property Office.
