San Mateo, Calif. – Oodle, the operator of a social commerce
marketplace, announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Grouply, a service
that lets social groups build customized social networks.

Financial terms of
the transaction were not disclosed.

The majority of Grouply’s employees will
move to Oodle, and Grouply’s platform and the groups hosted there will be
maintained as before.

Grouply counts over 500,000 active groups on its
platform, ranging from neighborhood groups to alumni organizations.

Oodle’s
marketplace, which counts over 14 million unique monthly users, lets people
buy, sell, lend and give goods to friends and others in their social circle.
