New York – WikiLeaks, the whistleblower website that has
drawn the ire of the U.S. government for publishing classified military and
diplomatic documents, has been booted by Web host Amazon.com (NASD: AMZN) following an
inquiry from Congress about its relationship with the site, the Associated
Press reported.

Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) told AP that Amazon.com’s self-service Web
hosting platform stopped hosting the WikiLeaks site "after congressional
staffers called the company Tuesday to inquire about its relationship with
WikiLeaks."

"WikiLeaks servers at Amazon ousted. Free speech in the
land of the free–fine our $ are now spent to employ people in Europe,"
reads a tweet by WikiLeaks.

Amazon would not comment on its relationship with
WikiLeaks for AP.

  1. I love the tweet! That idiot Assange really thought he could keep this up with impunity? His whining reminds me of the little kid who gets his toy taken away by the teacher because he was caught playing with it in class! Serves him right.

Amazon should have booted him without government intervention, though. Bezos should know better.
