San Bruno, Calif. – Google’s (NASD: GOOG) YouTube has instituted a new
flagging protocol for videos thought by users to "promote terrorism,"
the Los Angeles Times reports. U.S. and foreign lawmakers have specifically
condemned YouTube for offering videos created by Anwar Awlaki, whose calls to
jihad have been cited by a number of individuals accused of carrying out
terrorist acts. Sen Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) called YouTube’s move a "good
first step toward scrubbing mainstream Internet sites of terrorist
propaganda."
